How long do hair extentions last, do they get in the way of washing?

or brushing your hair?

How long do hair extentions last, do they get in the way of washing?

good quality ones last a while- if you can synthetic ones, you may as well get clips ons, so you can just clip them in your hair (which is great!). If you get human hair ones (which I recommend) they last for a very long time. I have had mine for a year, they're clip-ins and I wash them by hand. Dry them with a blow dryer. They match my hair color. If you have them glued in (i dont recommened b/c its hard to get out and when you do take them out, you will remove some of your hair with it- trust me, had it happen!) or weaved in (same thing, but not as bad) you can wash your hair with them in. It'll feel weird, but you get used it it. Glued in hair always falls out, so watch out. If its weaved in, it hurts to get the weave, but it lasts long. I recommend clip-ins. They're so easy to do also. I saw it dont once at the salon and I just pick up sections of my hair and clip under, making sure that my own hair is on top. It blends in very well with my hair. Go to a salon, or check out Jessica Simpson's new hair line- I heard she has some nice pieces.

Re: brushing...dont brush from the roots...hold your hair at your nape and brush.

How long do hair extentions last, do they get in the way of washing?

It depends what kind of extensions you get, bonded, weaved, etc.

I do bonds extensions with the highest quality of human hair. My clients usually want them re-bonded after 3 months. It really depends on how fast their hair grows though. I've had clients last as long as 6 months too.

Basically, the bond grows out with the hair.

You can wash and style your extensions normally. Just be careful not to get heat (flat iron, curling iron) right on the bond. Also, try to avoid using high alcohol hair sprays, as alcohol unbonds the glue.

Hair Care Q? HELP PLEASE!?

Keep in mind that I do have highlighter hair.

Would it be possible to shampoo in the shower, skip using the conditioner, but maybe use a spray conditioner before I brush my wet hair? Would that cause my hair to dry out too much?

I can't find a perfect conditioner. pantene, fructos, and herbal essence makes my skin break out because its so oily. Tresume doesn't do anything for my hair, leaves it dry. Would it damage my hair to just use the spray in conditioner. What about just conditioning every 2 days? HELP?!

Hair Care Q? HELP PLEASE!?

You can certainly use a spray in conditioner. That's what they're there for. A couple of notes, though, is you should not wash your hair every day, for it will dry out your hair greately. And you should stop by a salon near you and pick up some professional shampoo and conditioner instead of using the product lines that you have mentioned. If you use unprofessional conditioners all they do is coat your hair with a waxy substance that makes you think that your hair is healthier when, in fact, it's not. A professional conditioner actually conditions your hair instead of masking the problem temporarily. Good luck.

Hair Care Q? HELP PLEASE!?

That would be fine. you don't have to shampoo every day and you don't have to condition at all if your hair is not feeling to dry. When you condition it doesn't matter how as long as you do it. Also you shouldn't brush your hair but rather comb it when it is wet.

Hair Care Q? HELP PLEASE!?

sure, you can condition as much or as little as you need. is your hair fine or thick?

fine hair would be great with a spray on leave-in conditioner. believe it or not, my favorite is the L'Oreal Tangle Tamer for kids. smells great!

and for thicker hair, i like the Nexxus Humectress.. great leave in conditioner!

and then condition every other day or deep condition once a week.

Hair Care Q? HELP PLEASE!?

Have you tried some of the shampoos in the hair salons, they are supposed to be very good. I use them all the time. You have to watch what shampoos you use on your hair, they should list the ingredients that they put in them. Good Luck.

Hair Care Q? HELP PLEASE!?

Maybe you could try going to a Beauty Care shop. They have special conditioners for specific kinds of hair. If your hair is dry like mine, I know it's REALLY important to use conditioner. But, like you I also have sensitive skin. I have tried spray conditioners and they just do not seem to moisten my hair well. They leave it brittle and dry. I use a conditioner by Ion. I find it at Sally's beauty supply, but Im sure it would be in one close to you as well. It's a leave in type, you do rinse in out after about 20 min though,.... i do it every three days and it leaves my hair very soft and it also smells good. You can buy it in bottles or in pouches.. It can be expensive ... about 3 dollars for two treatments.

Hope that helps.

Hair Care Q? HELP PLEASE!?

I only use salon shampoo's and conditioners. When I switched from grocery store products, I found that my hair looked so much healthier and better.

Hair Care Q? HELP PLEASE!?

If you are willing to invest in professional hair care products, the best product that i have found is CHI ionic color protector system. It will moisturize highlighted hair and using both the Shampoo and Moisturizing Conditioner is even better i think. Keep in mind that moisturizing hair is different than conditioning the hair. Moisturizing is adding moisture such as fluids back to the hair to increase its elasticity...that is, its ability to be flexible, bend with out breaking. Where as, Conditioning is a topical application, good for smoothing down roughed up hair shaft and detangling the hair. Conditioner DO NOT penetrate into the hair shaft to replenish hairs moisture loss. Moisturizers DO penetrate into the hair shaft restoring moisture, rebuilding the damage that can be caused by chemical services such as high-lites, perms, low lights.

When I answer questions about a black person's hair being dry, or how to grow it is my answer t

Currently i have long hair and have been learning alot so...

i do not have a relaxer i stopped getting them 5 years ago ( and i've only have 3 relaxers in my life time so this is all natural) so i can show you how to take care of hair without a relaxer. These are the basics, so i will answer your question totally. Often times there is many solutions to one problem.

1. The shampoo, unfortunately many black women are using shampoos with alcohol and petroleum jelly. step away from them. Use Aveda's shampoo.. specifically the name is Brilliant...go to the website. I use it, i love it, it mouisterizes my hair and the products are natural. i have also heard that KeraCare is good.

2. Okay, step two condition it and then it is time to comb it out, Do not use a brush on you hair when it is wet,,it will hate you for it then break off in revenge. Put your your sections use a big tooth comb, to untangle it

3. Do a hot oil treatment atleast once a month with extra virgin olive oil...repeat..EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil..not the regular stuff. unfortunately i have yet to take this step however my hair is doing great.

4. Okay on the daily basis you need to pay close attention to your hair...i recommend conditioning your scalp(3-4 times a week) and your ends(everyday) so that they will not get dry and unhealthy Petroleum jellly and mineral oil are weapons of mass destruction ( in other words do not use grease) it does so much harm to your hair it cannot be all explained here. So you ask what do I use...well natural oils grapeseed oil ( use it for hair it deflects heat so it is good for flat iron users like us)

jojoba oil(i use this for my scalp), extra virgin olive oil, sesame oil, emu oil, coconut oil...all these natural oils and more love you..i promise.

I also use Aveda's Brilliant ( the name of the brand) emollient for my ends.

5. Next,,if you want your hair straight but still be natural it is time to get a freakin good flat iron.,i have the Chi..it does the job but I recommend getting the Sedu because of the good reviews. make sure to protect your hair..i have so thermal protector from Aveda. When flat ironing your hair do not let the iron stay on your hair for too long, just 1-2 quick swipes.

6. If you have a relaxer ( i have heard that Mizani and Affirm are the best relaxers) don't continue to relaxer all your hair everytime you go to the salon..just the new growth and try to stretch relaxers as long as possible.

7. You do not need to trim your hair everytime you go to the salon maybe every 3 to 6 months.

8. Wrap your hair in a satin or silk scarf to prevent damage before you go to bed.

9. Eat healthy, drink lots of water,

10 take multivitamins, and fish oil pills you can get from GNC.

Follow these steps and life will be good..the best part about flat iron (which i do once a week or every two weeks not everday since it will kill your hair) is that it is not stringy but thick and healthy, yet straight and light enough to blow in the wind

When I answer questions about a black person's hair being dry, or how to grow it is my answer too overwhelming

Thank you girl, this is the best black hair advice ever!!! I came across your comment when I was searching for comments about aveda cause I'm deciding whether to use it, which I will now! I have damaged breaking hair, and got my "last" relaxer 3 weeks ago. I just bought a flat iron a few days ago and I'm gonna use your suggestions...no more relaxers!

When I answer questions about a black person's hair being dry, or how to grow it is my answer too overwhelming

I like those tips and use most of them myself except I haven't started the hot oil treatment no matter how many times I hear it is great for our hair. I just don't.....feel like it. I do still use relaxers. I don't think it makes my hair unhealthy and I just LOVE how light and healthy it looks. Um back to the question, I don't see anything overwhelming about giving someone advice. Great advice too

When I answer questions about a black person's hair being dry, or how to grow it is my answer too overwhelming

not at all! unless this information is false, but there is no such thing as too much advice...this is definatly not overwhelming

When I answer questions about a black person's hair being dry, or how to grow it is my answer too overwhelming

I also get my information from this web forum: http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/

When I answer questions about a black person's hair being dry, or how to grow it is my answer too overwhelming

Thanks don't care about what people say ..you just tried to help us..Thanks for this tips i'm into transitioning and it's hard but i'm still moving. On where i live it's difficult to find natural hair products in a good price any way i like your tips and i'll try them when i'm completely natural :)

When I answer questions about a black person's hair being dry, or how to grow it is my answer too overwhelming

you're tips are awesome. I'm natural and follow the majority of them except unfortunately hot oil treatments tend to break my hair more than help it

When I answer questions about a black person's hair being dry, or how to grow it is my answer too overwhelming

Exactly what I was looking for! Except the mineral oil being a wmd. I had no idea. I have noticed that the jelly just sits on my scalp, but not the oil. Thanks good to know.

the subject that you put down was insulting. no offense

Is it normal for childrens hair to fall out like an adults would?

I know some of my hair falls out when I brush, wash etc. But I have noticed, my sons hair ( like 3 or 4) on his pillow yesterday and then about the same amount on his black shirt this morning. He doesn't have real short hair, so maybe I just never noticed it when it was shorter, but also, my 2 year old daughter, I never see her hair coming out. It worries me a little. Also he complains every now and then of a pain in his leg or arm...I figured possibly growing pains....Should I be worried, or is this enough cause to go to the doctor for a test of some kind?

Is it normal for childrens hair to fall out like an adults would?

It may be normal. There is a recycling of the hair, it is lost throughout life, in younger age replacement is prompt and adequate. In contrast, hair lost in old age is not replaced and person gets bald (male) or there is thinning of hair (female).

Just as a precaution, you may give them some vitamins+minerals tonic. That won't harm.

Good luck!

Is it normal for childrens hair to fall out like an adults would?

Depends; is it clumps or just single strands? Once you've got a full head of hair (which you would have at 8 years old), you loose about 100 strands of hair a day. If it's only a few strands on his pillow (20 and below), I wouldn't worry, some people loose more in a single place than others. If it's loads, then I would see a doctor. If it's clumps, then I certainly would see a doctor asap. Do you notice his hairline receeding at all? Or around the crown?

How do I add volume to my hair if I wash at night?

I take showers at night since I don't like to get up any earlier than I need to in the morning. But I find that I don't get the volume in my hair the way I like unless I blow dry and round brush after washing my hair.

Any suggestions on how I can add volume to my fine hair while it's completely dry? Are hot rollers too damaging to use on most days?

How do I add volume to my hair if I wash at night?

i would definitely use the hot rollers....just make sure you have a good conditioning treatment that you use occasionally

How do I add volume to my hair if I wash at night?

use hot rollers just make sure when you wash your hair you use a conditioner with moisturizers in it and get hair trimmed regularly

How do I add volume to my hair if I wash at night?

i don't know about at night, but to add volume to hair, is blow dry it upside down, then brush it out upside down.

How do I add volume to my hair if I wash at night?

blowdry it upside down or buy a volumizing moouse or shampoo/conditoner
