My silky terrier has crazy knots in her hair - how can I detangle her without pulling too much &

I usually brush her hair every day but I let her go without a brushing 2 days in a row (bad idea) and after running and rolling her crazy butt around to her heart's delight, now she has wicked knots. I tried brushing them out but I stopped in the middle because I don't want to pull her hair. She's a little 5lb princess, but she sure isn't silky anymore!

Try to take her to a groomer. Don't tell them to cut it but untangle it. I saw a dog with a lot of knots and the groomer was able to brush them out.

They sell detangler for dogs. You can try that.

Whatever you do -DO NOT WASH HER UNTIL YOU GET THE KNOTS OUT. It will only make them worse.

All else fails - take a trip to the groomers.

If it difficult to untangle the knots then I would suggest that you cut the middle of the knots and brush/comb her gently till the knot comes free, but don't cut the whole knots off!

You can just continue to brush her, her hair will grow back! If you don't want to risk it, take her to a groomer! Or you can just brush little at a time everyday! I think you should just go ahead and brush her!

Bring her in and have them give her a "puppy-cut" it's adorable and will help solve the tangley problem. If you're brushing, gently brush the ends first and slowly work your way toward the roots as it untangles...do NOT brush from the roots to the ends.

Two days! Sigh... I am so lucky; my poodle doesn't need brushing but once a week! The detangler products really do help, and so does a soaking in conditioner (yeah, sometimes it works better to bathe first). Use a comb instead of a brush, and work slowly, bottom to top.

HI

I get the same thing with my Yorkies and I will get a Bottle of Pert and they get a bath and it all comes out when I Rinse them all snarls and tangles all come out I just put a extra Pert On the hard to work with snarls and then I just let them sit and they are gone when I rinse and comb her out and Blow dry her

Give it a try I bet it works

Remember Pert For People it has the built in Conditioner

Happy Holidays

Respectfully Yours

Anne
