Silver Hair...?

Intervening grey strands in your beautiful tresses is due to the cessation of colour pigment (melanin) in hair follicle. Pigment cells that are present at the base of the hair follicle stop producing pigment, which leads to lose of original hair colour. Melanocytes are the cells that produce melanin, which is responsible for the colour of the body and hair. With aging, melanocytes lose their ability in producing pigments, which leads to greying.

Physical or mental stress, malnutrition and constant worrying are some of the causes for premature greying. Apart from all this, genetics play an important role in hair greying. If your parents or your grandparents were victims of premature hair greying there are ample chances for your hair to go grey prematurely.

Washing hair in hot water, drying hair using an electric dryer and an unclean scalp can also cause premature greying.

Home Remedies and Treatment

" Amla " is the best cure for grey hair and falling hair. Regular massage of "amla" paste rubbed into the scalp has worked wonders in many cases, frequently reversing the process of greying or falling off of hair.

Massage your hairs with coconut oil and Lemon everyday for at least 15 minutes. There are instances of people having black hairs even up to the age of 60-70 years by using this method.

Soak about 10 to 12 rithas and 3 to 4 shikakai pods overnight in a pint of water. Next day, boil for a few minutes and strain. Use this liquid as a normal shampoo. Separately soak 10 to 12 dried amlas in half a cup of water overnight. Strain and use as a hair conditioner after your head bath. Leave it on the hair for ten minutes and rinse your hair with clean warm water. This will leave your hair smooth and shiny and also stop premature greying of your hair.

Mix lemon juice in castor oil and beat till frothy. Add 'henna' in to it. Apply the mixture evenly over the scalp, and bathe after an hour using 'shikakai' and 'ritha' shampoo as above. This checks greying of hair.

Take a cup of strong black tea (without milk), and to this add a tablespoon of salt. When cold, strain the tea and massage it on the roots. Leave it on for an hour, and then rinse with cold water. Do not shampoo it.

Nourishment and proper grooming is very important to keep the hair texture, growth, shin and luster in a good condition. Therefore use a shampoo %26amp; conditioner that suits your hair type. Choose products that are gentle, preferably without any harsh detergent like sodium lauryl sulfate. For daily washes, use a shampoo that is mild, gentle %26amp; moisturizing. Don't use too much conditioner or else it makes hair greasy. Daily massage your hair with your fingertips; it helps proper blood circulation in the scalp.

Nourishment

Your hair needs the following nourishment:

a) Vitamin A - vitamin A is necessary for promoting a healthy scalp and gives body and glow to your hair. Include dark green vegetables and orange %26amp; yellow fruits %26amp; vegetables in your diet.

b) Vitamin B - vitamin B regulates the secretion of oil, keeps hair healthy %26amp; moisturized. Eat more of fresh green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, cauliflower, cereals, liver kidney, yogurt, bananas and green vegetables.

c) Minerals - minerals like zinc, iron %26amp; copper promote healthy hair. Food sources: zinc - red meat, chicken %26amp; green vegetables; iron - beef, dried apricots, red meat, parsley, eggs, wheat %26amp; sunflower seeds; copper - seafood, egg yolk %26amp; whole grains.

d) Proteins - consuming more of protein gives your hair natural shine and good texture. Include more of sprouted whole grains, cereals, meat and soy in your diet.

dont pull them read this:

Every time you pull a grey hair, ten more grey hairs will come out-so remember never to pull a grey hair but instead, cut it near the root. Temporary rinses are less in use and not in vogue. Hair dyed with herbs is difficult to set, so people are more inclined towards chemical dyes. These cannot produce drastic changes in hair color.

In case, you have a lot of grey hair use chemical hair dyes. This is a very popular dyeing method in our country. The dye is more or less permanent and if dyed well, hair looks almost a natural black. Dyes are not affected by the climate, season, water and soap. The dyes are made with chemicals like mercury, hydrogen peroxide and others, and are easily available in the market. For dyeing, wash your hair clean, remove all grease and apply the dye as per instructions with a brush. Dye leaves a black color on fingers and nails which may mar the beauty of hands.

So use rubber gloves. Do not apply the dye on the skin of your scalp (apply on hair only). Let the dye remain on the hair for about an hour, and then wash it off with shampoo. Dyeing is to be repeated after a fortnight or so, because when the hair grows, roots start showing grey again. The chemicals used in dyes sometimes cause a reaction on the skin. It may cause a burning sensation immediately after applying or can take up to 48 hours to occur. Reddishness starts with the ears, spreads to the eyes and then the whole face swells. Eczema may also erupt. It is, therefore, advisable to take a skin test by applying some dye behind the ear or the neck where the skin is very sensitive. The test can be done on the inner part of the elbow where the skin is tender. If there is no reaction within 48 hours, go ahead with using the dye. But, there is no guarantee that you are immune to reaction forever. It is better to test every time before the dye is to be used.

In case of a reaction on the skin, consult a doctor and take the prescribed medicine. In order to ward off the ill-effects of para-chemicals, use water with sodium chloride to clean your hair.

This mixture is made like this:

Take two liters water, two tablespoonfuls of sodium chloride and one tablespoonful of hydrogen peroxide. Mix these and wash hair twice a day. It is, however, necessary to consult a doctor in case of any skin abrasion or reaction. If a doctor is not available, take one of the following solutions and apply it on the skin with a handkerchief.

Take fresh clean water. Add boric powder to it and apply on the affected 'part. Another way is to take 10 chamomile flowers and put them in boiling water. Strain and apply on the affected skin. Remember, do not dye the hair in case conditions, such as menstruation, pregnancy, asthma, heart problem, kidney trouble, skin diseases, breast-feeding, extremely dry hair or fall of hair prevails. If you feel a burning sensation while dyeing, stop operations immediately and have a skin test.

Premature graying or falling of hair signifies some deficiency of the body. The quality of hair depends upon the general health. A polluted atmosphere, scorching heat, humid climate affects the beauty of the hair adversely. Likewise, tension, anxiety, grief, disease, frustration or brooding is also harmful. To make dry hair look shiny and healthy, try a soft massage with warm oil.

I have some to and i'm just 15 i guess it's caused by stress!i need to overcome it !Good luck!

Silver Hair...?

You're welcome! Report It

Silver Hair...?

I wouldn't pull them out. I've always heard (and by no means am I saying it's true) that if you pull one out, two more grow. I don't think it would be from straightening your hair though. But then again..people go 'silver' at all ages. One of the guys in the senior class in front of me had grey hairs.

Silver Hair...?

grey hair has nothing to do with dying, styling, or anything. just pluck em out. i get em too, honey.

Silver Hair...?

If your hair is very dark and your are of asian or indian decent, you will start finding gray hair at an early age. You can use wash in colors that only stay in until your next wash, semi permanent color that washes out in 8-10 washes or permanent color that lasts until it grows out. Since you only have a few I would use the wash in color.

Heres a link with a lot of info on gray hair and what can cause it: http://www.disabled-world.com/artman/pub...

My best friends mom also had gray hair when she was in her teens and shes been dying it ever since. But I would think if you only had a few then you could pull em out. Thats what I would do at least! :)

Silver Hair...?

I don't think straightning causes white hair.
