What's the deal with brushing your hair when wet?

To start with, what does it mean 'wet'? I would imagine, not fresh-out-of-the-shower-wet, but is it okay to brush your hair having towel dried it? I've also heard that brushing your hair when wet isn't so bad when you uses a brush with wide spaces between each spike, is this true?

What happens if you brush your hair when wet anyway?

Combing is OK, but brushing isn't really a good idea.

Basically, it can cause damage from the teeth catching onto slightly more fragile wet hair.

i think u tend ot lose less hair than when u brush your hair after a wash when it is dry. after u have had a hair wash ur hair is knotty and when its wet it pulls out less hair and the knot goes away but when the hair is dry after u have washed it u have knots that are harder to get out so it pulls more hair out.

Your hair will break easier if it's wet, so be gentle with it when it's wet. The best way to comb wet hair is with your fingers, they're the softest.

If your hair is short it doesn't matter as much.

As far as I know hair tends to be more fragile when wet and it`s easier to break it if you brush it while wet.

A brush should never, never be used on wet or damp hair. Just because the brush has wide spaces doesn't mean that it will not cause damage to your hair. Brushing wet hair is the number one cause of hair breakage and split ends. Just don't do it. Use a brush only on dry hair.

Do not use a Brush on wet hair.

What's the deal with brushing your hair when wet?

i read that ur hair is WAY more fragile when wet and if u dont break it by brushing it it can damage it. and also a wide tooth comb would be best to use if u had to brush it when wet.

i think itd be best to wait till it was pretty dry before brushing though

What's the deal with brushing your hair when wet?

Using a brush or a comb with wide bristles when combing wet hair is right. Wet hair is very brittle and breaks easily when wet. That is why it is advisable comb it when it is almost dry.

What's the deal with brushing your hair when wet?

As far as I know, combing your hair when it is wet is more for people with curly hair. I have a combination of wavy/curly hair and the only way I can comb it is when it is damp. I say damp, not soaking wet. Your hair is easier to break when wet. Using a wide tooth comb will cause less frizz than using a brush and is used more to get out tangles. Using a brush will cause curls to separate causing a big ball of frizz on your head.
